Introductory message

Welcome to 'How to Attract and Retain greater Diversity', an introduction to the evidence, barriers and practical steps for building environments where people of all backgrounds can thrive.

Leading organisations understand that healthy, diverse cultures go beyond fairness and positive reputation. Diversity – done well – quite simply drives competitive advantage.

Despite a growing understanding about the benefits of diversity, strategies can lack meaning and focus, leading to token gestures that undermine efforts.

I've designed this course from years of lived experience in the field, as well as an examination of best practice and research.

My aim is to bridge the gap between theory and practice. This course offers a starting point for more nuanced conversations that can lead to meaningful results.

It introduces:

  1. The evidence that diversity and inclusion drive performance
  2. Barriers to diversity and inclusion
  3. How to identify simple actions for attracting and retaining greater diversity.

My intention is to spark some lightbulb moments that will better equip you to create the conditions where people of all backgrounds thrive.

Each course segment features a PDF download of course notes that you can print and use as a workbook. Record ideas on the blank pages, using the questions as prompts for individual reflections or team discussions.

The complete handbook is available for download at the bottom of this page and again at the course conclusion.

If this content resonates with you and your team, I recommend arranging a tailored workshop or keynote presentation to further explore topics for building your diversity and inclusion roadmap.
